01 / Getting a crew through the gate
Step 1 · Where it starts
A crew member is added on a phone by a foreman standing in a yard off West Van Buren Street: name, trade, and photos of their cards. No app to install and no laptop involved.
Step 2 · What gets automated
The system reads the certification cards, pulls out the issue and expiry dates, and files each one against the right person and trade. Anything unreadable is flagged for a human rather than guessed at.
Step 3 · The process it plugs into
Each worker gets a live status: cleared, expiring inside the outage window, or missing a document. The foreman sees the whole crew as a single list weeks before mobilisation, not the morning of.
Step 4 · SolaceSentry review
Before any roster leaves your office, a named person confirms every worker on it. Anyone with a document expiring mid-outage is held back for renewal instead of being sent and turned away.
Step 5 · What leaves the system
A crew roster with a complete document pack behind every name, in the format the site asks for, sent once rather than corrected four times.
Proof metric: Workers turned away at the gate for a paperwork problem — the target is zero, and the number is visible before mobilisation instead of after.
